CONFERENCE THEME “Science Education for the SMART Nation” is the theme of the 2019 SISTC. Set in the context of Singapore’s journey and vision to be a SMART Nation, this conference explores how practices of science and its applications in the real world can equip our students with the knowledge, skills, values, ethics and attitudes in science to thrive in a technologically-driven world. It also highlights the critical role played by science educators to nurture learners to become responsible citizens so that they can be future-ready in a rapidly changing world, taking calculated risks, leading and experimenting with innovative practices. The conference will provide opportunities for local and overseas science teachers to learn from experts in the field of science education and also to share their classroom experiences, innovative strategies, and good practices that enhance quality learning and teaching of science. KEYNOTE SPEAKERS This year, we are honoured to have four eminent figures in the fields of education and public policy as our keynote speakers for the conference: CONFERENCE STRANDS There are a total of six conference strands. They are: Science Literacy and Practices of Science Science Teaching and Learning New Media and Technologies Assessment and Evaluation Applied Learning in Science Teachers’ Professional Learning and Development We would like to urge you to present your good work in one of the above conference strands.
